Kempty Falls is popular among the tourists who visit Mussoorie and this cascading waterfall has successfully lured tourists from the very beginning. This place was developed as a tourist spot by John Mekinan in year 1835. The name Kempty is derived from 'Camp-tea', as the Britishers would organize their tea parties here. The water rush down from an altitude of 4,500 feet and splitting further into five showers, the water falls from a height of 40 feet giving the appearance of water jumping and playing on the rocks before falling down.

Kempty Falls is located 15kms from Mussoorie on the Chakrata road surrounded by high green mountains and is set at an altitude of 4500ft. The fall offers astonishing view of scattered drops of water falling from the height of 40ft and the waterfall splits into five streams and it looks like that the streams are doing jumping and doing somersault with each other.

The falls are closed in the monsoon and winters and stay open in the summers. You can have a vitalizing bath in this beautiful waterfall. How to reach Kempty Falls

Kempty Falls can be reached by hiring taxi or bus, from Dehradun or Mussoorie. It is 15 Km from Mussoorie and 20 Km from Dehradun. Dehradun is the nearest rail head as well as airport.
